Drusilla Cole - about me

I have spent the majority of my working life teaching for the University of The Arts, London and took early retirement in 2009.

Since then I have enjoyed exploring various forms of printmaking , settling on linocuts and woodcuts as my method of choice. My inspiration tends to be from objects, places or people that have an emotional effect on me.  For instance, lately I have been documenting favourite vintage or flea market finds inspired by them. Prints are on sale at various selected galleries.

Artists books are also of interest to me and I find creating and making them to be a challenge but fun eventually!

Textiles have been part of my life for a long time - and I dye and paint or screen-print my original designs onto 100% silk to create fabulous floaty scarves, which I sell locally and nationally.

I have published four books to date:-
'1000 Patterns', published by A & C Black 2003
'Patterns, New Surface Design', published by Laurence King 2006
'Textiles Now',published by Laurence King 2007
'The Pattern Sourcebook', published by Laurence King 2009

All available at good book shops or via Amazon

I regret it is not possible now to find “1000 patterns” in French edition. It was published by dessain & tolra . I spent a long time in a library to dream with all the patterns. they were so nice…

thanks and I hope there will a new edition

    Thanks Bea
It is unlikely that another edition will be printed now. However my other books are published in French - so maybe one of those would do for you instead?
    Best wishes

Hi Dru, This is Liane. I graduated from the BA Surface design class in 2002. I am participating in Artsmart (1st & 2nd of July) and wanted to make contact!
I have been living in India for the past 6 years, and working in the textiles industry there. My colleague and I have recently started an accessory brand called JOLI (we also do consulting/agent work for european company who want to produce in India) and will be showing our first collection of bags and scarves at Artsmart.
It would be great if you could come by if you are free. I have been buying a few of your books, which are great inspirations!
Also, wanted to contact Ian Wilmott to invite him also.
Well, I am looking forward to be back in London and hope to meet you.
    All the best, Liane

Hi there Drusilla, I was just on your site looking at your work, which I think would look great on our walls at the Oswestry Visitor and Exhibition Centre. I have a two month slot free in Jan and Feb 2016 might you be interested? We do not charge artists to exhibit but we do take 25% of sales, let me know what you think.
    kind regards
